The Entertainer Retail Case Study
The Entertainer was established in Amersham by Gary and Catherine Grant in 1981 and has grown to become the UK's largest independent Toy Retailer with 36 stores nationwide. To accommodate this growth, The Entertainer acquired a retail outlet at the Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock within the main ground floor shopping mall.
The shop fitments within the existing store were completely removed in order to cater for their own brand image and design layout requirements, part of which included a new back-of-store mezzanine floor, creating extensive first floor storage together with ground floor offices and toilets.
Vanguard Contracts was employed to carry out the necessary design and installation of the mezzanine floor and staircase. The subsequent plan was agreed in collaboration with the shopping centre's structural engineers in order to restrict the resultant imposed loads as the structure was built onto a concrete suspended slab.
The project was carried out smoothly and efficiently with minimal disruption, successfully achieving the desired result.
